Nice panoramic photo of railway and small town of Wakefield, located on the Gatineau River.
Wakefield is located northwest of Ottawa. The railway arrived in 1896.
The only information I could find on this photo was from a copy held by the Gatineau Valley Historical Society:
‘Bird's eye view of Wakefield village, ca. 1917. Donated by Lee Grant.’
That photo had some additional text on the negative identifying the location.
On the front of this photo, bottom left ‘1972'.
On the back is text “WAKEFIELD GATINEAU VALLEY QUEBEC” and ‘Wakefield Gatineau Quebec for page 16”
Also on back is a faint purple square stamp with ‘CANADIAN PACIFIC RAILWAY NO. 1739’
Based on the above, I assume it was used in a book.
Can't date when this photo was developed.
