LaSalle Seminary (more formally Lasell Seminary for Young Women) was a private women’s educational institution founded in 1851. It was part of the 19th‑century movement to expand academic and practical education for women. Over time, it transitioned into a junior college, then a coeducational college, and finally a university.
1851–1852: Founded as Auburndale Female Seminary
1852–1874: Renamed Lasell Female Seminary.
1874–1932: Operated as Lasell Seminary for Young Women — the period relevant to Daily Record poster.
1932–1989: Became Lasell Junior College, one of the first junior colleges for women in the U.S.
