Unique postcard showing Alfred Leroy legless and-one-armed rider on a specially modified Harley-Davidson motorcycle for him. Sitting in specially designed sidecar, along with a small sidecar attached to it for his dog. Box with list of 5 custom controls, along with associated numbers on motorcycle.
Little known about Alfred LeRoy, apart from his exploits as a dedicated long-distance rider. By 1919, he had crossed the United States at least three times on his 1916 modified Harley-Davidson Model J. While an accomplishment for the time, it is even more remarkable because LeRoy had lost both of his legs and half of his left arm in an accident at age fifteen.
Example of early 20th-century barnstorming, where traveling thrill-seekers pushed the limits of early motorized vehicles for entertainment.
