Attractive early 1900s double sided, dual purpose, trade card from small rural town of Sutton Quebec (SE of Montreal).

Front: L. L. McClarty – Marble & Granite Dealer, Sutton, Quebec

Back: Memorial card for Hector MacDonald, Canada’s largest St. Bernard, owned by Miss Beatrice McCorry of Sutton (died 1907)

Dual‑purpose cards like this almost never survive because:

  • They were printed in tiny quantities
  • They were used as everyday handouts
  • People threw them away
  • They were not meant to be “collectible”
  • They document two unrelated Sutton stories on one artifact
