The Foulbrood Act, 1925 was a provincial law regulating beekeeping to prevent and control American Foulbrood, a highly destructive bacterial disease affecting honeybee colonies.

To protect agriculture, the province:

  • required mandatory registration of all apiaries
  • required annual inspection by a provincial apiarist
  • issued certificates confirming compliance
  • allowed inspectors to order destruction of infected hives
