….the first Benedictine College in America...It is situated only forty miles east of Pittsburgh, along the main line of the Pennsylvania Railroad. The climate is salubrious, the air is always resh and Invigorating: the water pure and plentiful. The beautiful gently sloping field and meadows, the parks of mighty oaks, the many shade and fruit trees make it a place once seen, not easily to be forgotten...The method of teaching is thorough and practical and calculated to farm the mind, regulate the heart and establish good, moral principles. The associations are varied and numerous. Athletic, dramatic, literary and debating, musical and religious. The athletic clubs are never allowed to visit other institutions for the purpose of competing with them, fur the St. Vincent boys must study, and such trips are by no means conducive to studiousness.
