I forwarded to day 560 – of oat flour in 3 barels as good as ever was in market & shall for ward  to I Corner Lowell about one ton of meal to morrow in bags. I send this meal before the time so that the man might be well satisfied of his trade. I should like to send you some on commissions if you would take it. I expect to be in market with 5 or 6 tons first of Dec unsold & shall want to dispose of it before it gets to the lowest market. I wish you to send the bags soon as conveniant not by Express – they charged 50 cents for the last bags

Silas Peirce (1793 –1879) was an American grocer and politician who founded the wholesale grocer Silas Peirce & Co, in Boston, Massachusetts in April 1815. The grocery firm of Silas Peirce & Co., Ltd. lasted 111 years. Peirce served as chairman and a member of the Boston Board of Aldermen.
