Fred H. Slark was the promotional photographer for Jasper Park Lodge [between 1910 and 1927]. In 1924, Mr. Slark built a small frame tea house at the Astoria viewpoint at the end of the Mount Edith Cavell Road. Mr. Slark and his companion Fredrick Ruthishauser were the first to reach the top of Mount Redoubt in the Tonquin Valley but lost their lives on the descent (August 3, 1927).
