Nice c. 1900-1908 postcard photo of 10 young men in uniform members of a small-town baseball team. Posing in front of stone-walled building. Baseball caps with letter ‘D’.

Unidentified location

Dating the Photograph (1895–1910)

  • Uniform cut
  • High, stiff collars
  • Heavy wool flannels
  • No visible numbers
  • Caps with short, soft bills

All are consistent with 1895–1910 amateur and semipro teams.

Equipment:

  • Crossed bats: thickhandled, pre1910 profile
  • Catcher’s mitt: large, pancakestyle, no webbing → 1890s–1905
  • Chest protector: early quilted type, introduced c. 1888, common by 1895–1905

The photo itself is almost certainly 1895–1910, with 1900–1908 the strongest cluster

No photographic paper mark on back on back. Being split back dates card to ~1907 and later, with possibly earlier photo.
