Early 1908 photo postcard of a group of sailors from the destroyer HMS Dee taken at Sheerness UK. One is holding up a sign that says:

Perhaps crew working with coal?

Postmarked April 1 1908 at Invergordon Scotland. That month she was one of ten Rivers Class destroyers expected to arrive at Portsmouth in order to have H.M.S. Vernon install wireless telegraphy equipment in them. Later, in June 1908 it was part of two divisions of destroyers escorting the the King and Queen on a visit to Russia.

My Dearest,
Received letter safely, just missed in very rough ride down, hope that you are quite recovered. I am quite safe and sound after our terrible journey, will write letter on arrival at Harwich. do you know anyone on the other side it is some of my messmates = at Sheerness.
