The S.S. Victoria operated a route from Puget Sound to Nome Alaska from 1900 to 1908, then after that date between San Francisco and Nome via Seattle.
Written on the negative:

Based on the photographic paper use (AZO) as printed on the back, dates photo between 1904-1918.

…Under her new owners, the Northern Pacific Steamship Company, Victoria began operating out of Puget Sound in Washington state. In 1898, she was resold to the North American Mail Steamship Company and transferred to American registry. Due to this, Victoria was used as a troopship in the Spanish–American War, carrying troops to Manila in the Philippines. In 1900, she served with various owners along a route from Puget Sound to Nome, Alaska until she ended up with the Alaska Steamship Company in 1908. Beverley Bennett Dobbs was an active photographer in Nome from circa 1900-1912.
G.J. Lomen and his son Carl originally came to Nome as part of the 1900 gold rush. G.J. Lomen soon established a profitable law practice. In 1908 the brothers bought a photographic studio and later bought the negatives of several other photographers including Dobbs, Nowell, Goetze and Kinne.
