Postcard with photo of wreck of a German biplane in forest area. This was in the area around Ypres, scene of many famous battles.

Labeled at LL ‘Poelkappelle 5.5.17

May be a plane shot down by famous French Ace Georges Guynemer, credited with shooting down an Albatros two-seater on May 4th.

On back, German word in pencil “Flandern” (“Flanders”)

This photo has provenance from a photo album owned by a German soldier named Richard Sanders.

Some glue remnants and paper damage where mounted in album.
