  • “At Neuve Eglise near Armentières, Ypres on July 22nd was walking along road approaching billets at 6:30 pm when a galloping --- passed them going same way, when a dispatch rider turned into pathway where they were and threw him. There was no way of escape…Patient remembers being --- & going through the air. Walked to dressing station – splint applied swelled a great deal next day. 2nd morning sent to Balleuil then to Rouen. X rayed at Rouen…"

  • On 27-7-15 entered No. 12 Station Rouen France with sprained wrist
  • On 29-7-15 entered Canadian Red Cross hospital Bleveden Taplow Buckinghamshire (UK) with fractured right arm (diagnosed)
  • Was in hospital for 4 months, contracted rheumatic fever
  • Discharged as unfit for service 31-8-16
