1929 Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Telephone Co. (Ontario) resort bill

Interesting hand-written bill sent to Mrs. J.H. Jones at Pinelands Resort, from the company's Port Carling Central Office, dated Oct 31 1929. Located in the premier cottage area of Canada.

Pinelands Resort was located on Lake Joseph close to Post Sandfield, about 5 km west of Port Carling. The Grand Trunk Railway stopped in Gravenhurst, from which, in the season, there was daily Steamboat  connection to the resort.

The Resort opened in 1905 and it became one of the better known resorts in the area. It was torn down in 2004.

List of seven (7) phones calls from beginning September to end of October 1929, with originator, destination, duration, and cost for each call.

In 1897 William Hanna, Post Master and Businessman, was made an agent with the Great North Western Telegraph Company, allowing for messages to be telegraphed out. The telephone took over the telegraph in 1902. the Bracebridge and Muskoka Lake Telephone Company put poles and line up in Port Carling in June. The first telephone was at the exchange office in William Killen's house. The luxury quickly expanded to other business. By 1923 there were seventy-three customers with the company.
