1891 - Set of two large advertising cards Dingman’s Soap

Front of cards show picture mounted in frame, on an easel (different picture on each card)

Cards are used for sales promotion for retailers:

‘With 5 box lots of this celebrated soap we are now shipping the noted picture “Little Mischief” and a Bamboo Easel or our new picture “Three Cronies” and Bamboo Easel’
‘With 5 Box Lots we send the Blue or Pink Beauty in Frame and Glass with a Bamboo Easel’.

11.5 X 17 cm

Both cards have light purple handwritten text below photo.

Condition issues with both:

  • Card with girl on front (‘Ideal Blue’)has tear at top and some smudging on front. Back has glue (?) stains in many places. Text is integral.
  • Other card has bits of paper missing, tears left side, scrapping of image. Back has glue stains. Text is integral.
